Makes Me Wanna Holler

Right now I'm sitting in a diner in Savannah, Georgia and the Marvin Gaye classic "Inner City Blues (Makes Me Wanna Holler)" is playing on the radio in the background.
Well, it's got me thinking about all the women who I talk to who express discontent with their lives.

Like Gaye, they wanna "throw up their hands" because someone always wants something from them.
It feels like they're working thankless jobs that aren't in alignment with their values and there never seems to be enough ____ (you fill in the blank)!
The truth is none of that is true. We live in an abundant universe and we can have the desires of our heart. There is more than enough! The other untruth is that someone else has that kind of power over us.
Although it's true, there will be people who try to monopolize our time and others who don't give a damn about our needs. But the truth is we have the power to prioritize our needs and to minimize the chatter from those outside voices.
Seriously, girl, just become the phone is ringing doesn't mean you have to answer it. Silence your phone until YOU ARE READY to talk!
Also, like life coach Leah Pardee once told me, "If it's not a 'hell yes' then it's a 'hell no'!" This simple advice makes it super easy to say no to requests for your time.
Today, take a look at what's making you wanna holler and ask yourself these questions:
In 20 years will this matter? If not, why are you wasting your energy on it now?
Take a look at the situation that's bothering you. What would the ideal resolution look like? What steps can you take to make it happen?
Why are you saying yes to things that don't bring you joy? What's that really all about?
If there are bigger societal issues like climate change, the economy, human rights that have you worried, what are three things you can do this week to make a difference right where you are?
